Being Positive: Perspectives on living with HIV (Educational Training Resource)

The Being Positive educational resource and training has been developed in order to allow personal stories of HIV to be widely disseminated to a greater number and more diverse group than those who traditionally have access to the Talking HIV program.  The DVD ‘Being Positive’ comprises the stories of three diverse people who are living with HIV and their families.  The stories are personally narrated and are interfaced with HIV/AIDS facts.    Completing this training allows the participant to present this information and use this DVD in a variety of settings i.e. in schools

** Use of this resource addresses many Health Studies Outcomes for Years 11 and 12. 


Content: HIV/AIDS facts (including definitions, epidemiology, transmission, prevention and treatment), creating a safe and positive learning environment, answering difficult questions, handling sensitive issues, communication skills, values and attitudes clarification.  This training will enable facilitators to deliver the educational resource package to their own community.

Training Length: Approximately 3 hour training

Who: Teachers wanting PD on a sexual health topic, university staff, regional health workers school health nurses, community groups who work with youth. This training can also contribute to PD hours for teachers in WA

Group Size: Approximately 15-20 participants

Cost: $220 per person
